Microsoft seems to have agreed to the decision they have made, because the Internet Explorer browser service will soon be permanently stopped by the company. This service will be completely stopped in February 2023 next year, Sunday (18/12).
Microsoft has made their official announcement through the company's webpage, which states some important announcements, especially those who are still using Internet Explorer.
In the piece they uploaded, Microsoft has further plans to bring browser services with high integration and capabilities, and it will all be aimed at Microsoft Edge. The Edge service will be further developed to be able to become the main browser in Windows.
Well, Microsoft will later release the latest update for Microsoft Edge users, where the update will be in the form of a Patch. When installed, Microsoft will automatically make the Edge service the main browser in Windows 11 and will automatically delete the Internet Explorer browser.
Microsoft hopes that later updates will make it easier for everyone to transition from the Internet Explorer service to the Microsoft Edge service, while for the exact time they have announced that it will discontinue the Internet Explorer service on February 14, 2023 later.
Microsoft writes that they will discontinue all Internet Explorer support needs, then will be permanently retired for the Windows 11 operating system. Not only that, but Windows 10 users will also get the same access where they can't get the support.
"The retired, out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled through a Microsoft Edge update on certain versions of Windows 10 on February 14, 2023." Write Microsoft in the Internet Explorer FAQ.
Microsoft also expects that Windows 11 users who are already familiar with the Internet Explorer service can move to the Edge service, given that it will not be long before the browser will be closed.
"All remaining devices that have not already been redirected from IE11 to Microsoft Edge are scheduled to be redirected on February 14, 2023. IE11 visual references, such as the IE11 icons on the Start Menu and taskbar, will be removed by the June 2023 Windows security update ("B" release) scheduled for June 13, 2023." Microsoft said.
