When users need help, the Emergency SOS or Emergency SOS feature on Android is a reliable option. However, this can also happen by accident. Users finally have the ability to turn off the Emergency SOS feature.
Here's how to turn off the Emergency SOS call feature that accidentally goes to emergency services:
How to turn off Emergency SOS on your Android device
- Go to Settings on your device.
- After that, select the Safety & emergency option on Android 12 or later devices. And Advanced settings on Android 11 or earlier.
- Then select Emergency SOS.
- Turn off the Use Emergency SOS menu. The button may be given another name on other devices, such as on vivo devices called SOS Call.
If the user wants to avoid activating this feature but still does not want to connect to the emergency service every time Emergency SOS is activated, just turn off the emergency call service under Emergeny actions. The device won't be able to contact emergency services but will remain connected to emergency contacts.
Then what will happen if you accidentally call Emergency SOS?
Emergency SOS on Android is meant to notify a list of contacts or emergency services when it's activated. For newer devices, this feature can be triggered if it is detected to stop or fall suddenly. However, the feature is usually activated by tapping the power button three to five times in a row.
Users in this situation have five seconds to cancel the alert. If they don't, emergency services will be called.
If the Emergency SOS feature makes a call to emergency services and the user can't cancel, let the emergency operator know that it was an accidental call.
This way, you can turn off the Emergency SOS feature on your Android device.
